Missouri River Fishing Report        July 3, 2008

July 3, 2008

The Big Flush is resuming on The Mo. The flow out of Holter Dam is now 11,800 CFS, and has now been over 11,000 CFS for three of the past four weeks: Missouri River Flow Below Holter Dam .  The Canyon Ferry Conservation Pool is 100% full and they are now filling the Flood Pool, with inflows exceeding outflows, so the flow on The Mo could well continue to increase.  But the fish seem to be getting used to these flows and the fishing is good.

This is a very difficult river to fish at these flows.  If you don't have experience with the river at these flows, find a guide who does.  It is wisest not to wade.

Recommended Flies

Dan has not fished The Mo recently.  The Mo is nymphing--deep nymphing, maybe some streamers, and maybe some surface PMD or caddis activity near the banks on the lower river.
